The International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) will host more than 300 top decision makers in global business and finance in Hong Kong on February 27-28 for the Climate Business Forum: Asia-Pacific (Climate Business Forum), the anchor event of the upcoming Hong Kong Green Week – Finance Stream.
The Climate Business Forum will feature keynote addresses, high-level panels and roundtable discussions focused on topics including the energy transition, decarbonization of heavy industries, the circular economy, the future of sustainable finance and new climate technologies in emerging and developing markets in Asia and the Pacific.
Leveraging the networks and expertise of the IFC and the HKMA, the forum will convene senior thought leaders from industry, financial institutions and government agencies, who will provide a deep dive into what’s needed to unlock the financing required for a resilient and inclusive transition across the region.
IFC and HKMA is collaborating with BloombergNEF, as the forum’s knowledge partner, and supporting organizations, such as Bank of China (Hong Kong), Boston Consulting Group, Crédit Agricole CIB, the Hong Kong Academy of Finance, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing, HSBC, Standard Chartered and the Sustainable Banking and Finance Network.
“To mitigate the risks posed by climate change and respond to the increasing value placed on sustainable businesses by investors, consumers and governments alike, becoming more climate-oriented will be key for the private sector to meet rising expectations and stay competitive,” says Riccardo Puliti, the IFC’s regional vice-president for Asia and the Pacific.
Eddie Yue, CEO of HKMA, adds that the forum aims to bring together “top executives and thought leaders in Asia-Pacific to spur new business development, create networking opportunities and facilitate knowledge exchange.”
