The Asset 21 Sep 2023

Asset manager M&G Investments has appointed Elaine Cheung as its head of risk and compliance for the Asia-Pacific region, a role in which she will have advisory compliance oversight of the company’s expanding investment capabilities in the region and be responsible for supporting the firm’s ambitious business growth strategy.

With over 20 years of experience in legal, risk and compliance within the financial services industry, Cheung brings a wealth of expertise to her new role, having worked with several global asset managers. Most recently, at Janus Henderson Investors, she led efforts to fortify the risk, compliance and governance framework across Asia-Pacific, enhancing relationships between the business in the region and global functions.

Cheung has held regional roles at Ashmore, Pimco and BlackRock. Her career has taken her to Sydney, Hong Kong and Singapore, where she gained experience and insight into the diverse regulatory landscape and market practice in the region.

“Cheung’s extensive experience and deep understanding of the financial services industry in Asia-Pacific make her a valuable addition to our team,” says Loretta Ng, M&G’s head of Asia-Pacific. “Her leadership will be instrumental in enhancing our risk and compliance functions in supporting our strategy and growth of the business, particularly in our focus markets of Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong.”
